Ferrari-Carano Merlot - 2003

Sonoma County, California

The 2003 Ferrari-Carano Merlot is rich and medium-bodied, and has exceptional balance and length. It is a complex, multi-dimensional wine boasting wild-berry fruit and cherry flavors shaded with chocolate-malt characteristics.

"This wine is a composed of primarily Merlot, blended with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Syrah. The cool climate valley floor vineyards produce supple, fruit forward wine, while the hillside vineyard fruit lends intensity and structure. Upon entering the winery, the grapes were crushed and destemmed, and then fermented in tank before pressing. Individual lots were moved to barrels for malolactic fermentation, then blended and barrel aged in 100% French oak for 18 months, allowing for the perfect balance of fruit, tannin, and oak." - Winemaker's Notes

83% Merlot; 12% Cabernet Sauvignon; 3% Malbec; 2% Syrah
